Dr. Markus Detterbeck – the workshop leader born in Regensburg, Germany, music teacher at high schools and choirs/conducting with Prof. Jorg Straube studied at the University of Wurzburg. Already during his studies he directed many choirs and was regularly as head of workshops and training events. in 1999, he received a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange service (DAAD) for the implementation of doctoral studies at the University of Natal in Durban/South Africa. This four-year abroad opened the possibility of a collaboration with musicians and choirs in the South African region. During this period he worked also at various schools and as a lecturer in choral conducting at the Music Department of the University of Natal.
After Germany since his return, he works as a music teacher, conductor, and author. Numerous publications and technical papers in journals documenting his work. In addition to his work at the old electoral Gymnasium in Bensheim/Hessen, he has a professorship in ensemble and choral conducting at the Musikhochschule Wurzburg, is a sought-after speaker of national and international workshops (seminars for conductors, choirs and vocal ensembles, coaching multiplier training school music) and member of the Editorial Board of the magazine mip-journal.
